[In the dorm]
Stephanie knocks on the door and goes into Mary's room.
“Guess what?” She shouts excitedly, “I’m finally done with all the midterms! Shall we go to the frat row tonight Mary? There’s gonna be a really big party. Must be lots of fun you know.”
“Umm… But I have so much homework to do tonight.” Mary hesitates a bit.
“Oh come on girl. It’s weekend! And it’s only Friday. You still have 2 more days to crack homework.”
Not wanting to be considered anti-social and nerdy, Mary, though not that willingly, agrees, “Alright…”
Then they begin wearing makeup and dress up very nicely.
[On the way to frat row]
Mary and Stephanie go to the frat row with a bunch of friends, including Tom.
Someone on the road greets them: “Oh, hey Mary. You look gorgeous and amazing today!”
“Thank you.”
[At the frat party]
When they reach the frat house, Tom suggests: “Hey girls, how about some alcohol first? It would be boring if you don’t pregame.”
“No way... I want to stay sober tonight and get up early tomorrow in order to finish all my work.” Mary thinks, and then replies, “No, thank you.”
“Oh Mary, Mary. Come one girl this is college! Everybody drinks. What are you worrying about? Come on.” He hands her a shot.
“Yes! Cheers!” Their friends starts drinking.
Though Mary doesn’t want to, she still has some and then they start to play games.
An hour later, Mary begins feeling dizzy and talking louder and more.
SHE IS DRUNK.
“Let’s play some more games!” Mary suggests.
“No. I’ve already had enough. Let’s dance.” Susan replies.
They have fun at first.
However, Mary suddenly throws up on a girl and the brothers kick her out.
[On the way back to dorm]
Mary, with the help of Stephanie and some other people, gets back to her dorm because she can barely walk. Tom is with them though he’s also too drunk.
[In Mary’s room]
It’s already 2 am.
Mary starts talking, so loudly that wakes Lindsey, her roommate, and other people on that floor up.
Mary is really angry at Tom because he gets her so drunk. She also feels so sorry for the girl, whom she has vomited on earlier, and Lindsey because she wakes her up.
“I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry.” Mary starts crying loudly, “How could Tom do this to me? Why did he get me so fucking drunk?”
Then she goes to Lindsey’s bed and says: “I feel so sorry Lindsey I woke you up. I know about roommate contracts and I’m not supposed to come back this late but I’m just too drunk you know. I’m so sorry you’ll probably need to take care of me tonight. You will, right?” She smiles at Lindsey.
She then keeps saying and crying for an hour. People have no idea what to do. It is, probably, only time that can help her sober up.
“Don’t worry Mary. It’s okay. Everyone is here to help.” Lindsey gets off her bed and hands Mary a glass of water. Stephanie, who only has had a little beer, is sober. She hugs Mary and pats her on the shoulder: “Mary, I completely understand how you’re feeling right now and just don’t ever again go to frat parties or drink too much because of peer pressure,” she looks her in the eye, “BE YOURSELF, Mary.”
[The next morning]
Mary sobers up completely. She recalls everything that has happened the night before and says to Lindsey and her friends: “I’m so so sorry about last night but trust me guys: I’m so determined I won’t go to the frat row for a really long time and I will never ever drink so much again. I promise.”
[The ending]
Throughout the rest of the semester, Mary keeps her promise and doesn’t go to any frat parties. She also makes a lot of friends, through actively involving herself in club activities and other meaningful social events, rather than frats.
